Maseru is the capital city of Lesotho a landlocked country surrounded by South Africa. The city has been called one of the more low key capitals in the world and was at one point occupied by the British as an administrative post. The country gained independence in 1869. The city underwent a major face lift that has erased many of its political scars. The climate is good and the city has good infrastructure so is a good place from which to start your Lesotho adventures. So book your budget ticket to Maseru through Air Africa and get started. The town now has well stocked shops and some good restaurants and accommodation so that traveler needs are seen to. There is a relatively new shopping mall with fast food outlets, the countrys first cinema and a supermarket.

Visit the Kingdom in the Sky

Lesotho is called southern Africas kingdom in the sky as it is a country that is filled with a breathtakingly beautiful mountainous landscape offering much in the form of exploring and hiking. You could even try pony trekking to get around. But if that is not your ideal mode of travel then do not worry, as you can hire cars quite easily. The country has public transport as well. The Sehlabathebe National Park maybe remote but is an interesting visit while the country can also lay claim to dinosaur footprints. To be truly wowed by natural splendor travel to the village of Malealea to see firsthand the gorgeous valleys, mountains and ancient San paintings hidden in rock shelters. You can enjoy all of this while trekking through the hills a definite once in a life time experience. During your Lesotho travels make sure to include the Bokong park reserve, which has an impressive waterfall. It is a lovely place to hike through and to camp to enjoy a few days in the midst of nature. It can get cold at night. Also always book your camping through Lesotho Northern Parks and be sure to get an experienced guide.
