The capital of Malawi, Lilongwe is a city teeming with life and vitality. It was named after the Lilongwe River that flows into the great Lake Malawi. Situated near the borders of Zambia and Mozambique this city is rapidly developing and is an interesting place to visit. Pottery, cooking and two city centers

Lilongwe has two city centers, basically the Old Town where you will find accommodation such as hostels and guesthouses, cafes and eateries, transport spots such as bus stops, while the Capital City or the more modern area house the more high end hotels, embassies, government ministries and travel agencies etc. This green city has definitely come a long way since its small fishing village days. To see some of Lilongwes famed pottery and the workshops travel towards Dedza. While within the outskirts of the city visitors can catch tobacco auction floors. Travel to the Kumbali Cultural Village and be mesmerized by the traditional dancing and live acoustic music and drumming. You can also sample some traditional Malawi cooking.

Lilongwe flights arrive at the Kamuzu International Airport which also offers regular flights to Johannesburg, Nairobi and Addis Ababa among other domestic flights.
