Book your budget ticket to Pemba with Air Africa and head on over to this tropical port city in Mozambique for a holiday filled with beautiful scenery and inviting beaches. The citys location on the south of the worlds third largest natural bay cements its status as a beautiful place to visit. Founded by Niassa Company in 1904 after the Queen of Portugal it was then called Porto Amelia. Once the Portuguese rule ended in 1975 the city became Pemba with locals being a mix of Macuas, Makondes and Mwanis speaking languages such as Macua and Kimwani. The usage of the Portuguese language is widespread. Heavily influenced by the early Arab traders that dealt with ivory and slavery you will see this firsthand when you visit this city. At the city centre you will find a Souk or local market selling traditional silverware as well as arts and crafts.

Diving amongst corals

Once you have satisfied your retail craving and found the perfect gifts to take back home, visit the coral reef that is close to the shore for some exciting diving. You can also enjoy some watersports once you are done exploring the coral reefs. Such attractions have made this location very popular with tourists and you will find a mix of South Africans and the more well-to-do Mozambicans enjoying a break here. As a result of this you will find that the infrastructure is good and that hotels offer good facilities. People also fly into Pemba with the intent of visiting the archipelago Quirimbas Islands, filled with coral reefs and mangroves, and the Quirimbas National Park.

A blend of tropical weather and colonial architecture

Walk around the city that offers a tropical climate to enjoy some food at the restaurants located in and around the place while you can also buy necessities at the local supermarkets or grab a snack from a patisserie. Nibble on your snack as you stroll around the city taking in the old Portuguese colonial architecture and the large cemetery that has frangipani trees that offer a picturesque shade and setting to the graves there.

Relax on pristine beaches

It is the ideal holiday destination for people who want to be spoilt and allowed to relax on the pristine beaches with occasional dips to cool off in the clear blue waters. Look for flight deals to Pemba on Air Africa so that you can save your travel budget to truly enjoy this amazingly gorgeous location.
