An old German coastal city located in south-west Namibia, Luderitz is a port city developed around Robert Harbour and Shark Island. The city is known for its distinctively German atmosphere and colonial-styled buildings offering visitors a glimpse of the Art Nouveau style of architecture made famous during the turn of the century.

Luderitz is also where the annual Luderitz Speed Challenge is held. Held during the last quarter of every year, this is a month long speed sailing event organised by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) and is the only international sporting event held in the town. The city is usually buzzing with people as well as excitement during the racing season.
