Enter into a lush natural paradise within the nation of Rwanda, when you book your low cost flights to Cyangugu, the impressive capital of the Ruzizi District in the countrys Western Province. Poised at the southern stretch of the serene and scenic Lake Kivu, it is a paradise that is waiting to be discovered and explored. This charming little community features a population of approximately 20,000 people. Read on to find out more about this splendid city that will make your budget flights to Cyangugu a truly memorable investment!

Where, Where, Who?

Cyangugu enjoys a vibrant location teeming with exotic flora and fauna that are a treat to capture through the camera lens. Its immediate location sees a low-density population as it is perched at the edge of Lake Nivu, while its industrial centre is known as Kamembe, which is the economic and transport sector of the settlement.

Getting around

Flights to Cyangugu get in at the Kamembe International Airport, which serves flights on the national carrier RwandAir to the capital of Kigali. International flights to Cyangugu would first get in at Kigalis International Airport, at which point you would need to take a connecting flight to Kamembe Airport. The airport itself has seen much modernization and improvement in light of rising visitor numbers in recent years.

Things to do

Cyangugus primary lure is its laidback atmosphere, owing to its small size, where foreigners are received with curiosity and friendliness. If you are a nature lover on cheap flights to Cyangugu and the region, you are in luck as the areas main attractions are its lush forests and scenic lakes. Lake Kivu is a mighty water body, as it is one of the African Great Lakes, and it separates Rwanda from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with the majority of the border line running straight through the lake. Fishing was once a major industry, although it declined during the time leading up to and following the Rwandan genocide of 1994. This fresh-water lake is teeming with wildlife, and it is also home to the worlds tenth largest inland island, Idjwi.
The Nyungwe Forest is a prime tourist destination, as it is considered one of the best examples of rainforest in the region. It official became a national park in 2004, under the title Nyungwe Forest National Park, and it encompasses a wide area of around 970 km2 that includes rainforest, grassland, swamps, bogs, and bamboo expanses. From the centre of the park rises the impressive Mouth Bigugu, one of the nations tallest peaks.
